Central Croatia

Central Croatia is area from the very north-west of Croatia to Mountain Croatia on south and Slavonia region on east. Cakovec is the northernmost town of Croatia and has rich cultural heritage from Zrinski and Frankopan’s period. There are numerous vineyards and wine roads in Medjimurje county and Zagorje county. Each year in May there is a festival of wine taking place in Medjimurje county named Urbanovo. As a part of it you can visit numerous wine cellars and enjoy in wine tasting.
Nearby Cakovec is Varazdin – the city of baroque. End of August every year Varazdin’s streets and squares are venue of Spancirfest – the festival of street walkers. For more than forty years Varazdin is a home of Varazdin’s baroque evenings – international festival of baroque music, which takes place every year in late September and early October.

Zagreb, the biggest city and capital of Croatia is home of numerous cultural, historical and other sights. The main city square – Ban Jelacic square is connected with Ilica, the most known city street. You can take a ride by the public shortest funicular railway on the world – Zagreb Funicular railway, which connects Upper and Lower towns, visit some of the numerous museums and art galleries, take a walk through one of the Zagreb’s most beautiful parks, Zrinjevac or visit Snow Queen.
